Warburton admits ‘another referee’ might have sent off Forrester

first_img“Another referee might have given it (a second yellow) but I can’t comment on that.”Warburton was just relieved to see his men come through the match with a 2-1 without suffering any more scares after last weekend’s opening day draw with Hamilton. He said: “There was resilience, but we shouldn’t have to show resilience. I thought we were very, very good in the first half. “We controlled the game and our movement was good. We created chance after chance and Lee Wallace was excellent on the left-hand side. Rangers boss Mark Warburton admitted “another referee” might have sent Harry Forrester off following two fouls committed after his booking in the win over Dundee. The midfielder entered the book for a foul on Dundee’s Darren O’Dea and came close to seeing a second yellow card after risky challenges on Cammy Kerr and Michael Duffy. Referee Craig Thomson decided not to show Forrester a second booking, with Warburton withdrawing the midfielder soon after. However, the Rangers boss denied that Forrester was taken off for his own protecting, commenting: “Michael O’Halloran was always coming on for Harry. That was always the plan. “We should have been more clinical, and then in the second half we shouldn’t have to show resilience. First half, it should have been game over. It could have been four or five with the chances we had.”last_img
